Motion Graphics

A visual explanation of basic typographic principles.

Type Terms is a 3D motion graphic which explains six basic
typographic terminologies. My goal is to explore an enjoyable
learning experience. My target audience are people without
a graphic design background and beginners entering the
field of graphic design. To reduce the difficulty of concept
comprehension, I associate the meaning of typographic terms
with things or movements appears in real life.

Tracking

Tracking

Tracking adjusts the overall spacing of a group of letters. Tracking can be loose or tight.

 

Kerning

Kerning

Kerning adjusts the space between individual letter forms.

 

Leading

Leading

Leading or line spacing is the distance between the baselines of successive lines of type.

 

Alignment

Alignment

Alignment is the setting of text or image relative to a page, column, table cell, or tab.

 

 

Grid

Grid

A grid breaks space into regular units. It serves as a rational framework for organizing graphic elements.

 

Hierarchy

Hierarchy

The use of visual language to emphasize content according to an order of importance.
